Who knows what about thermal wrapping on houses?

Hello hive mind!
As the title suggests... looking for info on companies, east or south east, that do external thermal wrapping on houses. Not injecting beads into cavity walls, but external thermal cladding.

Any experience of this out there?

Hi Ivor, we had that done in 2011 but the guys who did it have long since left the business. It was worth doing.

Two neighbours had it done using Churchfield, both said they were excellent although on the high side of the quote. One had the whole enchilada including heat pump, the other attic insulated and wrapped.

I had a friend who had it done in a very large cottage style building in Tramore. It went well, looked good but for him it didn't seem to give the return he expected on heating though he said it improved condensation and air tightness. One thing to consider, as it caught him out in one or two places, is that since it extends the outer dimensions you can run into sizing issues on window sills and such

The online quote we got would actually be prohibitive... It may be less in person or with another company but even after the grant it's very high.

We'll keep looking!

We went for a different option here - solid foam fill in the cavity (ie not beads). Made a huge difference, especially with airtightness.

8500 to do the full job here on this house to give you an idea of cost.

Have you spray foam already done on the attic/eaves?

No, we do have insulation between rafters but need to complete the attic job as well. If the foam can be done from the outside (it seems it can) it's a definite option. Interior work is very intrusive. Neighnours got it done and while it worked well they hated the disruption.. We'll get a few quotes very soon and weight it all up.

Thanks again lads.

House Insurance companies can have views on this.
