I never quite 'got' him either but I'm a fan of artists who cite him as a huge influence. That's good enough for me to mourne his passing. We need more (new) artists to do the odd stuff.

Aw, Jesus no! Have always been a massive supporter of the Captain and lucky enough to understand his warpish take on the Blues. Still IMO he died a long time ago when he opted out of the music business altogether to go and become a recluse in the desert. A true maverick, a true star - goodbye Cap'n..... at least we've still got the music. RIP

He was always difficult to get. I've got an Old Grey Whistle Test DVD with him doing Upon the My O My where he looks and sounds somewhere else entirely. Truely a performer who sacrificed little or nothing for his vision.
