Have a fault with my current speaker terminal jumpers, so need to get a new set. Anyone got strong opinions or views on this?

• does it make a difference?
  any specific brands you would recommend?

I have a set of old Audio Note An E speakers with silver coils and wiring.

Given that you're just joining the signal + to + and - to - it really shouldn't be a big issue. In the past when I've had this issue I've just snipped a few inches off the speakers cable and used that. I may be being a bit casual there but as long as the jumpers are at least as good a quality and consistent across the wiring it should be fine. Make sure it's not the terminal itself first.

Thanks Ivor. That is my take on it also and my gut feel is that the difference shouldn't be that significant. The problem ones were the original silver coated strands. For the last few days I have been using paper clips! I did cut down an old set of speaker cables and using those now. All sounds good to my ears.

I've used solid core copper as jumpers.

Odin himself couldn't justify that!

anyway... basically use something of similar quality (subjective) to your existing speaker cables. Probably not a paperclip! For peace of mind I'd replace all four jumper leads.

Odd that one went on holiday? did it short out?

If I was you and would not mind little DIY , something not overly expensive, but really good quality I would look at below items.

VAN DEN HUL CS12 or if you want step up SCS12. Seriously amazing interconnects or hook up, or internal speaker cable.

You can also use bare wire I suppose. Just to prevent oxidation on the wire and keep the strands together I would have apply some good quality solder, 4-6% of silver/ tin

little bit of solder and cable heat shrink, and voila.

Thanks Maciej. Very helpful links and a good site.
I will experiment a little with various combinations - standard solid copper (thanks Cyndale), cut down speaker cables and other materials. The helpful guys at AudioNote provided a few options and also suggested to buy some high purity silver from a precious metal seller or jewellery tools supplies store.
AudioNote use a solid solid copper or silver strands on their speakers.

With my current fix in place the speakers are sounding wonderful!

Probably sourcing something from Audio Note would make most sense, if cheaper alternatives are excluded. Those interlinks will match exact of what you have in the speakers, but I doubt it will be cheap.

Best jumper is no jumper. Just solder the terminals at the back together. It’s the best jumper ! Use the wire from some big capacitor, cut it off. The best thing u can do
