WTD: CD Player

Hi All,
Hope you're all keeping well these days.
My TT and Stax recently came out of storage and being put to good use. However, I no longer have a CDP. Looking for something decent but not silly money. Preferably on the smoother end presentation wise.
Obviously this will have to wait until the current crisis passes but just putting it out there anyway.
Cheers,
David

I have stuff in storage - we were going to move house but plans have changed - and again it will come out once all this madness ends. Despite it being a 5 disc Sony yoke it's actually a very good player. I had it in the shop, playing all day and it was never fatiguing. If I remember correctly it came from Adrian of this parish who would never have crap in his system either!
We're talking about €50 or so.

Thanks Ivor. I'll keep that in mind so. Any excuse to get a listen to those Harbeths too!

Glad you enjoyed the Sony CD player Ivor, if I remember correctly it had variable output on the remote, which would attenuate the output by +/- 3 dB.
WRT CD players, the world is your oyster, obviously budget is important (well for many at least).
Cloney's sold a Oppo universal player recently, and it has gotten very favorable reviews. Oppo got out of the player business, which was a pity as they had a very good reputation. But perhaps they saw the oncoming wave of streaming and made a commercial decision?
Another point would be a CD player with a DAC input. Such as Musical Fidelity M3s CD (as an example)?
Or a CD transport, TEAC perhaps? Then using a external DAC. It would allow you to compare DAC's and upgrade to different DACs whilst still keeping the transport.
One of my pet foibles is the CD tray.... I like a good solid CD drawer tray. It's the part of the player which the user interacts with the most. A tray which is floppy and very bendy does not entrall me.
I picked up a Arcam Alpha 8 SE player a few months ago. Perfect condition, beautiful display and fine rigid CD drawer and it sounds great too. Sure it's not an Esotheric beater, but its grand for me at the moment.
What are you thinking of atm Dave, wrt budget, colour, size, flexibility of inputs, etc?

Hi Adrian,
I'm thinking of something along the lines of an Arcam CD72/92. I've had a few Arcams on lone over the years and they've always sounded nice, not overly detailed or dull which is a good thing.
Right now though I'm planing an overhaul of my TT setup but that's another story.
