I never met the guy but I was saddened when I heard earlier in the year of his passing. He was one of our more active forum members and was certainly fond of his vinyl! RIP Lars.

He sure was Dave! He brought an innocent enthusiam to the forum that was very addictive and really, he's sadly missed by us all I'm sure....

I never knew he was sick, until he was really sick. I had given him a loan of a phonostage he was interested in. He got back in contact pretty quickly to return it - I thought to myself, mmmm he musn't think much of it. But in reality, he knew he was travelling back up towards Dublin for an app and might not be so easy to get it back as he was running out of time.
Typical of the man: Someone from the old forum gave me a crapped out pair of isobariks. I think 2 of the tweeters were ok - I offered it up for anyone on the forum. Lars was on right away asking for it not for him, but for a friend who he knew had a pair with a tweeter gone. At this stage he was very sick, tremors, end stage essentially. He spoke about the illness. A rare man indeed.
You couldn't say I knew him other than casually, but yet somehow I often think of him and the conversation we had about the illness.
Ar dheis De go raibh a h-anam dilis.
Fran
ps. The isobariks: they were never going to be working again, so I broke them for spares. I was given them, so I wouldn't sell them on, but thought I would sell them for charity. A fella from pinkfishmedia took them, with the agreement that he would send a donation to charity - a childrens hospice/respite center here and in leeds. I paid to have the stuff shipped to him in the UK. Some of the parts are rare enough and cannot be got anymore - so it would have been worth a few bob. The bastard never made the donation, dropped out and wouldn't answer emails etc etc. He'll never have luck for that.

The only contact I had with Lars was through Pms or emails but his character came across and his decency and humanity. I was completely unaware of any illness but he had let me know, gently, that he wouldn't be around much more and how he had come to terms with it and was at peace with the world and his future. I really wish I had saved that PM but at the time I didn't think it would be gone.
Well remembered Dermot. Lars was a special guy alright.

That was really, really decent of you lads to share all that with us.Us men usually keep all that to ourselves or so we've been told.So it's nice once in a while to be proven wrong... I remember Larzyh sending me an electronic stylus balance guage to play with.I couldn't believe that he offered me the chance to try it out. By way of thanks I sent him a load of CDs which he thoroughly enjoyed. Also, like Ivor, he too sent me an e-mail explaining the extent of his illness and to thank me for everything plus the GTLP thread :-) I smiled at that, I tell you...I wish to God I still had that last e-mail. God bless you LP :-)

I only knew him through GTLP. He was always a very active member and I remember being pulled up by him when I made a mistake in a clue. We won't see his like again. RIP. Well done in remembering him Dermot.

That sounds exactly what Larzyh would have done :) Johnny, it was easy remembering him as he was a massive part of the old forum but thanks for the thought anyway...
Do you remember he used to berate me for the obscure albums I used to dig out! I remember a Pavlov's Dog album in particular that you got. Even you were surprised that I actually had a copy! Then there was the time when I put up a Creedence album (Willy and the Poor Boys) and poor Larzyh,in total exasperation and with tongue firmly in cheek, came up with Posh and Spice :-)...see pic below and have a look at the bottom right hand corner :)
