SOLD One Thing Audio Quad ESL57's / Oak Rupert Stands

Again same as the Jadis many forum members have heard these iconic speakers from Peter Walker. Anne has put up with two sets of Quad speakers for a long time! Have decided again reluctantly that I have to face reality and create a bit of space in the house.

These have Oltec treble panels from One Thing Audio and were completely revamped by OTA. They sound glorious and unlike a lot of 57's are perfectly balanced and work as originally designed. The Rupert Oak stands lift them off the floor to the correct height for listening.

Have priced them at €1000 ono on adverts. I would be hoping they stay on the forum so happy to discuss a fair price for them if anybody is seriously interested. They also come with boxes for transportation but that requires the stands to be removed.

If you look at One Thing Audio's site you will see to get a pair revamped fully will require a set of speakers/refurb costs and also you will need to buy the Rupert stands. That comes to approx €2500 depending on what you spend on a pair. Of course that is not including the risk and cost of having them couriered to Ireland. In my case I went to have a listen in the UK and brought them back myself. Haven't seen any pair needing work go for under €500 in Ireland and similar in the UK.

Hi Tony

You may recall I visited and was blown away by your Quads!

I’m extremely (!) interested in these, any chance you’d take them off Adverts so we can discuss??

Cheers

Conor

These are a pair in excellent condition, sounding as they should. And a right good deal to match too.

I agree with Fran here. I was lucky enough to have a loan of these and they are as good as any pair I've heard. Absolute bargain price too.

As fine a pair of 57s as I've heard, at an excellent price! Can't believe you're moving them on.

Thanks lads feeling the pain a little I switched them back in and the immediate thought is to change my mind. I thought the same on your Graaf amps Simon. But I have three sets of speakers and realistically it is not sensible to hold on to them all. Still have a yearn to get stacked 57's but that will have to remain a wish for the moment

I’m very excited about impending ownership of these beauties.

As you can see at the link
below, I had the good fortune to hear Tony’s 57s when I bought a few CDs from him a couple of years back.

It was a defining audio moment for me so can’t believe I now have the opportunity to own that exact pair!!!

Congratulations, Thor!

(I have to tell myself that is only "stuff", Tony, but yeah, the GRAAFs were hard to let go.)

Sold and collected today. Surprise these didn't go to Conor (Thor), Reggaeman(Mick) came up from Cork with his partner today and after a nice listening session the 57's have gone to a very good home. Funnily enough Fran your suggestion re an audio innovations amp was very apt. Mick has 60W valve monoblocks but also owns the audio innovations amp you linked. The intention I think is to run the 57's on audio innovation amp.
Sad to see them go but the way they were carefully loaded into the car I would be very confident that they will be treated with kid gloves. Great to meet you and Jane today Mick no doubt if you lived a bit more local you would be very much involved in all the diy shenanigans that often goes on here!
