I'm starting to tire of not having a way to play streaming music (Spotify, whatever) on my main rig, and it crossed my mind that maybe I should buy a cheap (ish) DAC just to get started. Due to lack of preamp, I'd need something with a volume control. Some internet searches yielded a lot of excitement about the Gustard X20U, a Chinese DAC that apparently punches well above its weight and seems to do everything. I'm tempted for the laugh, but at the same time it's not quite at throwaway money levels ($860 and whatever taxes you get done for).

Has anyone heard the Gustard?

Of course ideally I'd buy a Big 7, but the funds don't stretch quite that far.

thats quite a lot of gear for 800$
wouldnt mind getting my crocodile clips on it

customs could do a right job on it though
they really dont like stuff finished in cases

although a few bits in a bag slips in under the radar handy enough

Guys, Does anyone owns this DAC around Dublin? Or maybe you know where I can listen to it for a while?
