Suggesions please for Adding DLNA UPnP client box to DAC

Hi All,

I am putting this in the general section but if seems better in the computer audio section I am quite happy for the moderators to move it.

I have been running a computer audio system for a few years with a squeezbox and a DAC. I am running Squeez-server on a QNAP NAS-box. Everything has been working well.

I recently added a Naim, DLNA box and moved the Squeezbox to anther room. I am running Asset-UPnP on the [same] QNAP box [to drive the Naim box].

I am getting some connection timeouts with both systems and I think this is because I am running both Squeez-server and UPnP on the same box.[The Nas box is quite old and not that powerful].

I am thinking of replacing the squeezbox [which I run through an external DAC] with a small DLNA UPnP box that would let my DAC connect to the network. . Are there any such boxes availabe that are not too expensive? A good tablet interface [Samsung tablet] is vital.

I may go this route or I may just upgrade the QNAP box to a more powerful model. I am not in a great rush at the moment to make changes.

James

Hi James...Auralic Aries Mini ?
399/499 euros (depends on the dealer) , with Sabre ESS 9018 dac built-in (but with digital USB 2.0 outputs in case you want to use your dac).

At this price... very hard to beat for a branded object... imho the best value and quality today.

Thanks for that suggestion .. I will think about it. It's a bit expensive for a second system.

Ideally I dont need a built-in DAC and would be happy with just a digital output.
