Hi all,
I'd like to introduce myself : i arrived in Dublin 3 monthes ago.
I come from France (Cabasse, Focal), a small town near Evian (the water), close to Swiss (Jean Maurer, Thorens).
I'm glad i finally found this forum !
I was starting to wonder if anyone loved Hifi on this island :)
It's a bit puzzling, seing all the live music, everybody loving music, and almost no Hifi shops, almost no forums.
So, i'm really glad i found this place :)
Thanks to you, i learned about clooney existence.
So a litle bit about myself, i like all kinds of music, but i have a soft spot for blues, for my wife it's electro.
About my main gear : my speakers are Tannoy LGM and Kef reference 105,1. amp : Nad 160a, Trio W41. Philips CD104, Cambridge audio 640c v2; Arcam Irdac.
As you have guessed i like vintage Hifi, not just the sound of it, not just its look, but also because it can be awesome value.
Plus, i find it's a good vaccine against "hifi silliness".
If you think about it it is very ironic :
Vynil or CD ? Alof of people still prefer vynil.
Valve or transistor ? Valve ! (usually everyone agree).
(I mean valve is like ignoring the biggest revolution of electronics, these last 50 years).
So why is it, when we talk about transistor amps and loudpseakers, so many people seems to be so sure, everything got really better in the last 50 years ?
I'm not saying either, that everything was better in Hifi before the 80s (i'm not that old yet !).
