Well I will be watching the recorded broadcast of Mahler's Fifth on BBC 2 from 7:00 until 8:30 with the World Orchestra for Peace conducted by Gergiev. It will also be broadcast live on BBC R3 on Thursday night with the Fourth Symphony if you are tempted to listen in then as well:

I might listen to the live relay on Thursday. On Wednesday, however, I'll be at the Albert Hall to hear Mahler Symphony No. 3 with Karen Cargill mezzo-soprano, Edinburgh Festival Chorus (women's voices), Royal Scottish National Orchestra Junior Chorus and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Donald Runnicles. Those with access to BBC Four and a large magnifying glass might be able to spot me in the audience when it's broadcast the following evening!

You lucky, lucky man. Having attended the Runnicles/BBC SO performance of Das Lied von der Erde in the RHA two years ago I hope and I expect that you are in for a real treat, enjoy.

Good man Darren, I thought that you might be there. I hope that you really enjoy it. Will you be seated or will you stand for the entire concert?

I will be standing Sean, front row hopefully if i get there early enough from Suffolk

I would have liked to have taken in the M3 Prom also as I have not heard this live before - I was at M4 with Zinman last year and also M5 with Dudamel at the RFH.

Incidentally I have booked time off to go to the M1 Prom with Rattle/BPO in a months time!

Oh to live in London, well for a short time anyway, the month of July would suffice. The Proms must be one of the greatest festivals of music in the world and it does not get the recognition it deserves. I too would happily stand through these two Mahler Symphonies, 4 & 5. I expect that it would be good to get as close to the front as possible, let's hope you do so. If you feel so inclined let us know how you get on and you can see yourself on Saturday night too.
