there seems to be a rash of threads on other forums about the use of Ikea bamboo chopping boards as some sort of Scandinavian gift from the gods for equipment isolation. Have wise audiophiles here found the benefits of these boards yet ?

My rack is homemade from this stuff http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/30202450/

Certainly worth a try next time you are visiting Ikea. If useless you can always use it for it's intended purpose.

Ikea can be great for this type of stuff. Some shops around me have Expedit units for shop display.

A more expensive version of bamboo used for isolation. Maybe the ikea route is worth a punt?

Something to consider: so-called bamboo board is akin to MDF since it as much glue as bamboo.

It could well be the glue used s a particularly good sounding glue. I do not know, I have never tried the product and who knows if it is the same in the US as what you get there.

Just a note of skepticism.

I use spruce board myself though it is not as easy to get. A coating of shellac and it is hard to better. Good for pianos and string instruments, too.

Haven't seen anyone else use spruce, at least not that I remember.

Where do you get it from?

You have to look around.

ALTMANN, the battery powered DAC fellow, brought it to my attention.

Try to find someone who carries wood for musical instruments.

Look for sitka spruce.
