Allen Screws, TT Project

I started a Lenco TT project about 18 months ago. System works great but never quite finished it. Resurrected it again and almost there now, looking good (i'll post some pictures when done)
I want to attach the arm board to the plinth with and allen screw and receiver. Sink the receiver into the plinth and then be able to screw it out easily. I had been working with just a screw into a rawl plug but not ideal. I also need some (small ones ) to attach an SME component to the arm board.
Any idea where i would get these? I am not quite sure what they are called -and how to get small ones I need.
I have tried local hardware shops and looked online. Is it a Grub screw I am looking for?
Advice welcome. The last piece of my jigsaw!

So you have a few options:
Allen head cap screw:
Allen pan head screw:
Allen countersunk head screw:
All available in bright, stainless, black versions
For the other end, you need a threaded insert:
This type you drill a certain size hole (this is in wood) and then screw this in and the centre of it is threaded to take M4, M6, M8 etc. There are a numberof variations around:
This thing is called a sheet rivet nut, again available in a few sizes, but I've only ever seen M6. You would drill out the size of the body and then epoxy it in place:
There are a good few suppliers around, but its probably as easy for you to buy the small quantities you need on ebay or amazon:

Hi Fran
Thanks for your explanation and direction. It explains exactly what I need.
I did look online, but was really unsure what matching components I needed.
This helps and hopefully I can put this project to bed this week.

From what you describe, I'd say M3 or M4 is the way to go...

Yes, I think that size will work
There are few photos in this folder of the TT and a close up of the armboard and arm post housing.

On a separate issue I need to pick your brains on how to optimise arm and cartridge alignment, VTA etc. Also how to accuratly measure the spindle to post distance. My measurements are all approximate. I 'll leave that for another day.
Thanks
Conor

If you can make it to be a bit adjustable (slots maybe in the plate) then you can adjust nearly anyway you want....

Yes. I did mount the tone arm with an adjustable system so I have ability to easily slide it back and forth.
I will do the fine adjustments and tracking this weekend.
Thanks again
Conor
