What type of cable would sell best

Post by HiFiFan »

I won't go into the details but I will be getting approx. $800 worth of new transparent audio cable (interconnect, digital, power etc. TBD) in exchange for some old gear. My aim would be just to resell this cable/cables on Audiogon. Does anyone have any idea whether or not I'd be better off getting single/balanced analog cables, digital USB/SPDIF/AES or power cables in terms of ability to resell, or does it matter?

Thanks
James

not entirely sure
but yould probably best with a bit of a selection of stuff, that way a customer might get more than one cable etc
That been said having more of more popular stuff than less popular would probably be wise (whatever they might be)

I'm guessing here, but I'd probably go for analog interconnects, single ended most likely. I'd stay away from digital or computer audio cables as I suspect they'd be a much harder sell. Many able believers wouldn't buy into the theory of audible differences therein suspect.

Of course this just reflects my own biases too, but I think analog interconnects probably get more "spend".

Yes a lot of truth in that
Computer audio don't seem to be the popular one
Plain to see anyone on forums saying computer audio can be good. they soon have an angry mob or CA hate club after them ready to gun em down or try to disprove
Top end CA stuff probably not going to be much a runner

Patrick, please get your facts straight. See http://transparentcable.com/products/pd ... s_2013.pdf
There are quite a few lower cost cables.

In addition, I was asking whether to go with analog vs digital vs power not that I was getting all these types.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, You have convinced me that analog single ended will be the way to go.
