That looks amazing, but I couldn't cope with all those valves.

Speaking of which, I've decided to sell my pre, mainly because I couldn't cope with the 6 small valves.

I'd love to arrive home with those! I can only imagine the reaction

Nawt that kit is just replicating the idea in the buildanaudiopc thread.2 of those yokes are power supplies a bit like the maplin linear supplies favoured by the boys here.

I was going to say it's overkill but one mans overkill is another man's absolutely necessary. I learnt this from friends and family myself.

Totally agree it was just the ridiculous size that caught my attention. The price from what I can see is €35k new so in theory a bargain at €8k.
I am sure in somebodies home were the rooms and decor and fit out is at a certain level it will work fine. It would seem like a very expensive luxury car that goes very cheap secondhand but the punter needs to realise that running costs will be crazy. It looks 3hrs of music is like running a kettle.

true; but from that expense you can deduct the savings of not having to turn on the central heating for 3hours.....

I always liked looking at the pictures of the big Jadis power amps on their website, the JA200 and JA500, but I had wildly conflicting feelings about them! On the one hand they're obviously mad, on the other any Jadis I've heard or owned has sounded gorgeous!

As I have taught the mathematics of reliability from time to time I know that having 40 valves is asking for trouble.

"Calculate the probability that at least one valve is faulty," would be one of the problems on the exam, and the answer will be higher than you would think!

what about

calculate the probability that one valve is faulty|given that the valves are NOS
