Have had this for years (30 at least) Seen little use but Anne using it with an old Pioneer amp. Some times when powered on it shows faint lights. Eventually what seems to happen is the display and power light appear as normal and hey presto all works ok.

There is obviously something approaching deads door on this or very low. Is it a capacitor? Is it fixable at a reasonable price. It is actually a decent digital tuner that matches the amp and has a bit of sentimental value for me as it was part of my first hifi system and I still have the matching pioneer amp which as stated above is used with this.

hi,could try cleaning the power plug contacts, fuse contacts and switch contacts with some servisol switch cleaner or similar, also inside the small plugs connecting the circuit boards can get corroded after 30 years

The recommended advice from here will be something like change the power cable or put cereballs underneath the component as all of these will obviously change how the thing operates.

Thanks tz350f I will try all that if it reoccurs and welcome aboard. Unfortunately in this case DaveF our resident cable guru has proven correct.Changing from the 2 pin plug which connected to the pioneer amp to a cyro treated 3 pin plug from a toaster and plugging in seems to have sorted the issue. Not immediately as the lights were still dim but as the cyro plug worked its magic all starting working normally.

I have the ceraballs on standby in case things detiorate again
