Anyone know how to adjust the chanel balance on an Arion Audio 300B amp - I already had the valves replaced but was never happy with the R-L balance (always though it was eighter the phono stage or cartidge probelem but have eliminated both).

Hi Fran,
sorry for jumping in on your TV topic - it is an arion nereus 300b amp with both 4 & 8ohm speaker posts. I also had both 300b and 6SN7GT valves replaced and biased but was never happy with the channel balance.

No probs on the TV thread!!

The reason I ask is that usually one of the 2 taps (ie 4 or 8 ohm) will be louder. I was wondering was it possible that the two taps were wired arseways on one side.

Arion were a crowd from NI that made amps weren't they? I think that the fella that runs Kronos hifi in Dungannon (I think) was previously involved in Arion so might be worth just giving him a ring too.

Usual warning, just be careful with the voltages in that amp if you have the bottom off it. 500-600VDC can easily kill you so just be careful going pokey pokey with a finger!! If you know what you're at, just ignore this line.

Hi Fran,
I will drop it into Cloney to be safe - just the long trip to Blackrock and the temptation to start back upgrading again (especially the second hand EKOS).

Sure you don't have a lot to lose by giving them a try anyway.

Good luck with it and I hope it works out.

Fran,

ps. what speakers are you using with it?
