Guys, herself wants a pair of noise cancelling headphones. Any advice or recommendations?
€100-150 max budget so the 300+ Bose ones she heard about on the radio yesterday not really on the menu.
Will be mostly used with ipod or phone.

Another thing to think of, is spare parts for the head phones.

A friend of mine uses headphones a lot, but he also uses glasses, changing glasses during the day eventually cut the foam packing rings on the headphone cups where it sits around the ear. But he was able to buy new foam rings on ebay. So you may require to check if spares are freely available on the www.

In addition some headphones sit on /over the ear, others sit around the ear.

I think "around" the ear is sonically best as it makes a better audio seal up against the head.

However if they are going to be used in the gym, the ears get a lot warmer than those phones which just sit on the ear itself.

So for gym workouts "on the ear" may be best.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.... decisions decisions....

I got a pair of Sony ones a couple of years ago at the airport for €70 or so. They were crap and the next time I went on a long haul flight I bought Bose Quiet Comfort 15. In every way, comfort, noise reduction, sound quality they are streets ahead of the Sony. Also, the cord is removable, another good feature. I'n not a fan of Bose speakers, but they have noise cancelling headphones cracked and are well worth the extra few quid.

In ear are probably best for the gym, they won't fall out the way others might.

Thanks Tony, you're right for sure! Great memory too.

AKG K-490nc are also available for about €200 from Thomann but not sure how good these are. Are the Bose worth the extra 100+ ?

She has in-ear 'phones for walking so these will probably used for home/travelling/chilling.
