Nice move by Cloneys - I can imagine it would be popular indeed. I wish them every luck with it, great to see events like this and the recent one by Kronos and The listening suite. Its gone from a barren hifi wasteland to an embarassment of riches.

I happened to be in the shop today and got a brief listen to those new Kharmas. They sounded great in the room, quite different to my 3.2s. I liked them a lot, and I really wish I could make this afternoon...

Would you have said that they are better than the 3.2's? To be honest when I heard them at the show last November I wasnt blown away by them but the room didnt help them I think.
My 3.2s have the same midrange driver as the newer Kharmas but I have the older 3.2 tweeter. Which makes me wonder if my Kharmas sound closer to the new Kharmas or the older ones with the Ceramique midrange. I'd love to do a side by side comparison someday. I suggest that you pack up your Kharmas Simon and bring them to my place someday. ;-))

Both myself and Steve were there at the time (he's another Kharma owner) and both of us left thinking they were a definite upgrade on our own speakers based on 5 mins listening in a strange room on a strange system. I liked them at the show but didn't love them, this was quite a bit more compelling. They're a good bit pricier, though.

And compared with the Avantgardes?

LOL. They're a different kettle of fish to the Avantgardes as you can probably imagine. Not as much fun I'd imagine, nor with the massive sense of scale the horns bring, but with a more refinement I'd expect. Should say that I'm not convinced the mid range is better in the new speaker over the old, but that's really hard to tell given the rest of the system was Audiolab. They just seemed to have an excellent balance and a free kind of sound that was very attractive.
