Esther Visser from the Sigiswald Kuijken Appreciation Group has posted the following request on Facebook:

Dear friends,
AGAIN La Petite Bande received a negative advice from the Advisory Committee in Belgium (like in 2009!) concerning the subvention for 2013-2016. They want to cut ALL funds, and this time it's even more serious as the minister is planning to 'just' follow the advices. That is why a NEW and very urgent petition is started today, to save the ensemble. It's directed to Minister-President Kris Peeters, as he will give the last verdict on June 29th. Please help us by signing this new petition, put it on your wall, and forward it to your friends. Thank you so much!!!

Dear Friends, it's a sad day. No more subventions for La Petite Bande. A message from Sigiswald Kuijken currently on tour in the UK: “I’m baffled by this decision. It’s certainly not my intention to make a ‘fuzz’ about it now. I believe that our cause was well defended and we gave it the dignity it deserved. Furthermore, I find no words for that decision, and do not understand the position of the committee . We will now see how we take it from here, I would like to thank everyone for their support in these past weeks.”
