No judgement here, but this is fascinating. Some of you may know Mike Lavigne as a serious audiophile who had a dedicated room built to house REALLY serious gear etc. etc. A few years ago there was a lot of talk on audiogon (or was it audio asylum) about it, and Mike always came across as a serious audiophile who wasn't a psycho: rare indeed.
Anyway, you've heard about the James Randi cable challenge, right? Read this:

Very fascinating! I now know why I have spent so little money on cables ;)

I'd like to see the test done with active speakers. Swap out different wire on an actively driven speaker that uses a Raal ribbon and Tad Midrange.
I don't know if there would be any differences, but this would be the "only" time I'd consider speaker wire to have a possible difference.
I have heard differences in analog and digital cables...night/day differences...same with different power conditioners/strips/etc. I never believed in it until I heard it. I'm sure in a strict a/b test, they could adjust everything precisely and I may not hear things so well, but in subjective listening tests, "thinking" I was using a good digital cable, for example, I was dumbfounded that swapping in a different cable yielded such dramatic-night/day results...same deal with analog cables...I couldn't believe what I heard. Again when I heard a power conditioner (just a cheapo one with transformer and nothing much else) vs. a regular power strip that has some protection. I'd like to listen to a strip with no protection at all, just a plain ole cord from the wall to see if some power strips actually clog the line or if the conditioner is doing ??? to get the sound through transparently.
