I have those Hogwood versions Seán but I found them a bit odd to be honest. They are probably the only Hogwood recordings that I do not like. Imho, I think that the OAE and the Gardiner ones are far better.Seán wrote:Oh dear, I have these two in my JPC basket and they are only €5.99 each, decisions, decisions:

Splendid Dave, thanks for that response. My decision has been made so.DaveF wrote:I have those Hogwood versions Seán but I found them a bit odd to be honest. The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, I can't say that I have ever come across them before now.Diapason wrote:Another suggestion:

Perhaps not, but Mr. Koopman's pedigree is second to none...Seán wrote: The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, I can't say that I have ever come across them before now.
Interesting, that you should say that as I have come across Koopman's Bach organ works in Tower, they are on the Brilliant Classics label and I wondered whether I should get a copy of the set. But I am still annoyed at the twits in Tower and I don't really feel like giving them my custom, but that's another story.Diapason wrote:Perhaps not, but Mr. Koopman's pedigree is second to none...Seán wrote: The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, I can't say that I have ever come across them before now.
Have a listen to some of the samples and see what you think. I like my Bach *lively* dammit, and this ticks that box beautifully!
