Sean: As a matter of interest, which would be your favourite 'CD single' of Titan? Excluding Kubelik, Solti, Rattle, Tennstedt, Maazel & Ormandy, all of which I know?

Thanks

I have a few Kubelik recordings. Hmmm, most probably Kubelik/BRSO (studio recording); Solti/LSO (on vinyl) & Giulini/CSO

Memo to me: "Seán, read the question man". Sorry Jared I was running off to get my dinner and missed the key word "excluding" above: Dopey Dunne!

On SSRattle: In 2007-2008 I bought a few Rattle led Mahler recordings in HMV and returned them all except for the Mahler 10 with the BPO, I then bought the Second with the CBSO and am still waiting to HEAR what all the fuss is about. Anyway, as to the substance of your question: yes Giulini/CSO is terrific and you may want to consider getting the Horenstein/LSO (not the VSO recording), Walter/Columbia Symphony Orchestra and the Abbado/CSO recordings too. I have more than 20 Titans and I still can't get enough of them.

Unfortunately, I do have Tinnitus in my left ear at present, it's intermittent and very unpleasant.

Gosh no Jared not at all, no apology necessary, you didn't know, this is the first time I've mentioned it and it was a clever play on the word Titan. I now listen to music when it's quiet. I had serious problems last year when my eardrums were turned inside out, it nearly drove me daft, hopefuly this will pass.

^^ a friend of my parents who suffered from Tinnitus and had lived in London all his life, retired to a small sleepy village in the middle of the countryside, where the only sound you could hear was the postman once a day and birdsong. His Tinnitus drove him absolutely stupid and he had to move back... so, I can imagine how terrible it can be.
