Just heard about Gib's (formerly Road and others) new venture earlier today. He's located inside the Twisted Pepper opposite Arnotts....Read all about it here May I take this opportunity to wish him all the best as he's one helluva nice guy :)

Derek mentioned that to me last week. We know Col who started 3fe coffee in the Twisted Pepper a few years back (he's still there and has expanded) and it was Col who told Derek. Apparently lots of vinyl. on sale :)
Wish him well indeed.

I paid him a flying visit today and to tell the truth he didn't have very much vinyl. Hopefully he too will expand in the coming months...Anyway there's a terrific vibe in the place and I most definitely will be calling back :)

there's also a fantastic bookshop upstairs, a guy who was in Chapters. One of those book people who, after a short chat about what you like and don't like, can recommend perfect books you'd never normally think of. That's his reputation anyway!

There is a terrific vibe in the whole building. I cant help think if it was in temple bar or anywhere with more foot fall the place would be packed out all the time. Any time I have been there it seems very quiet.

Its really nice to see a record shop opening instead of closing these days. Will certainly be checking it out the next time I'm in town.

I am delighted that there is another record shop in the city centre, he probably will not sell anything of interest to me, but I wish him well with his venture anyway.

But the rents/rates in Temple bar are prohibitive. Colin with 3fe was first there and had a good deal with the landlord, after all the venue is a nightclub so is usually empty during the day anyway. I'm sure the daytime activity has had a positive effect on night business too, higher profile and goodwill etc. That gentle start allowed Colin to build up a mini empire that's continuing to grow and he probably employs about 12 people now. All thanks to a bit of vision from the landlord.

Thats very good to here. Great to see somebody doing well. He deserves it the setting is great and the place is really cool. Add in the coffee and he has a winner. Maybe he should consider setting aside a space for a vino operator to complement the coffee?
