One of my favourite cook books... Georgina Campbells "Irish Country House Cooking" Blue book recipe

Less than an Inch thick, a nice portable, not too cumbersome with many fantastic recipes from various country houses around Ireland.

An amazing story of survival in Iraq. I am still not sure how they managed to keep their sanity.

We really do live in a crazy world...

One Soldiers War in Chechnya. It's a savage read, in both senses of the word.

Apparently not much has changed in the Russian army since this book was written. It describes the brutality and ineffectiveness of training and the army. I'd rate it above Dispatches.

Here's a ten minute reading of a section dealing with the second Chechen war in 2000.

'Tearing Down The Wall Of Sound' by Mick Brown
I'm reading this at the minute. Really good read about Spector himself and the music business in America throughout the sixties.

Presently reading 'Two Caravans' by Marina Lewycka; her follow up to the very popular 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian':

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Two-Caravans-Ma ... 563&sr=1-1

25% in (Kindle edition) and it's quite enjoyable...

40% in and I feel her descriptions of the varying plights of Eastern Europeans, with their precarious existances on British soil, tend to be more cohererent and convincing than the meandering storyline. I would say it's still worth a read though... have you read 'We're all made of Glue?'

Yes - but a while back now. Remember another book - I think it was called "the way home" or similar, again on an immigrants story in London that was excellent. IIRC it was booker nominated. "Everything is illuminated" is good too.
