Dublin Floods

Hi Folks,

I was very sorry to read of the terrible flooding that Dublin has received within the past 48 hours, and simply wished to send you a message of condolence from the other side of the Channel. I do hope that none of you have been too badly affected, and that the waters are able to recede as quickly as they came...

My thoughts are with you all.

the house is 100% dry as the probervibal bone but teh shop took in a bit. Not much really but a few square metres of carpet inside the door has been dampened. A wet/dry vac is on it's way from Argos. Got off light really but that was only from being here last night and packing underneath the doors with cardboard. A lot of shops in Ranelagh were under a foot or two. I pity Dublin City Council when they ask for their rates this year. There will be blood.

I have just come up from working in my garage which was under four inches of water last night. Luckily the house is on a higher level and everything was OK there. I had a very interesting quick flowing stream as a temporary water feature in my back garden last night!!! Some of the locals have been flooded so I too got off very lightly thankfully.

Two very small leaks here, very lucky, only a couple of drops got in. My heart goes out to anybody flooded, it must be desperate to feel so helpless watching nature take it's course, and your possessions.

That is exactly it Johnny....you are standing there with the water lapping over your ankles and you see it rising....and rising....and you are absolutely powerless to do anything about it. My heart goes out to those who have been really affected!

I know somebody who had their Aston Martin DB9 submerged in 3 feet of water - it was in an apartment block underground car park & the electric gates were shorted so nobody could get their cars out. It's destroyed - He's gutted - all you car fans will empathise
