nice juxtaposition between Early Music and Late Romanticism, today...
It sure is and you can't beat Mahler. ;) It's a pity that von Karajan didn't record the full symphonic cycle.

It is, Sean...
anyway, I'm sure Fergus will be proud that I am squeezing some Bach Motets into this Sunday afternoon...
incidentally, I have now officially freed myself from the 'tyranny' of having a proscriptive, set listening schedule and have decided to simply enjoy my collection as the mood takes me.
Future purchases (which will only come as a consequence of judicial pruning) will be very selective in the future; I am in essence happy with what I own now, and the Amazon wish-list has been erased....

....lovely music played on what is an unusual solo instrument for Classical music nowadays.
That's an entirely new one on me Fergus, I hadn't realised that there were recordings of trombone concerti available. That does interest me.
It is a very nice CD Seán which has some lovely and very accessible Baroque and Early Classical music on it.
Here is another one with the Trombone that I also have which is also somewhat different....

Indeed I am Jared and I had my own fix of JS Bach Cantatas earlier this morning.
BTW that is a very nice list of works that you have been listening to earlier!

I have obviously been delving into regions of my collection that I have not seen or heard for a long time, some of which were my earliest CD purchases including this lovely disc....

I was going to comment that I have heard the threat so often before (from myself included!) that....
Future purchases [] will be very selective in the future
....but you are actually the first one that I have ever heard of Jared that has deleted the Amazon Wish List! You must be very confident in your assertion lad LOL!!!

That is an interesting one Jared. I have always operated on a combination of the two approaches which gives me a chance to get through my collection and also leaves room for "Mood Swings".

Coincidentally I actually have some Hummel on vinyl lined up soon for listening and am looking forward to it.

^^ you and Hummel will get on famously.. although I found his SQs a little dry, he nevertheless had a penchant for writing chamber music for unusual combinations of instruments, sometimes with delicious results...
do try this one for size, some time.
