Jim McNeely is the pianist on the first Getz cd in this 2 cd set, it was recorded in the early eighties when he was the regular pianist with the Stan Getz quartet. McNeely is now the resident composer and arranger with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra:
McNeely, is of Irish descent and I had the pleasure of meeting him here in Ireland when he brought the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra to Vicar Steet a few years ago, he is a real gentleman and was glowing when extolling the virtues of the original founders of the VJO: Thad Jones and Mel Lewis.
This is a cracking LP:
