Tower wasn't open when I was there. I actually dropped into town three times since Friday to get the albums (no biggie) - preferably on vinyl, but Tower was closed everytime. Sorry John, only seeing this now! The best live version of Little Wing? All I can say, off the top of my head, is, he didn't perform it that often, so there's very few live renditions to call on. However I can say, without hesitation, avoid the studio version! Controversial I know. I hate it! My favourite live version is from the Winterland Arena, San Fransisco, CA. October 11th 1968. It can be found either on Hendrix in the West or The Jimi Hendrix Concerts. Another version is from the Royal Albert Hall 24th February 1969 which is available from any of the dubious versions of Jimi's fabled soundtrack Experience. It has never been officially sanctioned or released with the decent sound quality it deserves, so sound quality is variable, to say the least. Though, now that I remember, there's a decent version on the eight Lp box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience (2000). I'm sure there's more but you can't go wrong with the Winterland version.
