I think I just lost the will to live.... christ trying to install those linux drivers. Suffice to say I don't think I'll be using them for a long time.... at least until someone invents a system where I can click on a link and it all gets installed.

Pity.

Phew great to see even you can struggle on this stuff. I spent a goo few hours with John one night trying to get an adnaco card going. Of course the wily mr moreland has succeeded maybe you need to get him to check it out.

Yes, Fran, that's why I have not approached it myself yet based on my past experiences with Linux installations. Recompiling the operating system, to incorporate a driver, is not my idea of fun :)

That & the reports I have just recently received that it doesn't sound as good as Jplay on a PC - I just don't feel like rushing into it.

But there is a core of Linux users out there who have been looking for Linux drivers & hence my post.

Yea, that was a number of hours that we will never get back
Still, it did lead to the discovery of the 3 note section in the Shelby track - a discovery for which everyone is forever grateful :)

Heard it alright but haven't gone back to it and the room furniture and amp and speakers have now changed. When I get my degree in reverb I will check out the room thread posted by John.

BTW I am finding windows 8 pro slow. Please god it is not another vista.

Also JPLAY bombs out on full hibernation. It works on turbocore. Had a look awhile ago on the jplay forum and there was some discussion around this with beta versions of windows 8. Hopefully Marcin will get that sorted.
Sound quality is still great. Haven't lived with it for long enough to decide if it is better than before as I have introduced too many changes over the last few weeks.
Tony, I found a solution to some of the FullScale Hibernation problems on W8 Jplay. Mine was crashing out of FullScale after about 20 mins. I tried everything to no avail including V4.3a. Because it was relatively regular Josef(Jplay) suspected some power saving function and I went to control panel/ power settings and clicked the "change power settings" and got an option for " Advanced power settings" where I found one which switches off the hard drive after 20mins. I extended this to 500mins and disabled everything else I thought was appropriate. It's all working perfectly now on FullScale and no crashes. If anyone needs the exact details let me know and I'll publish them.

Thanks Ken for doing the leg work again. I will try it out but will be after the weekend as unfortunately work is getting in the way this week.

Ok Ken as per usual the tweaks work.Tentatively trying full hibernate on windows 8 with one track at a time. When confidence grows I might even double the tracks! Currently listening to dont tell anyone 'strange magic' ELO and it sounds very nice.

Is jplay 4.3a any better/different to 4.3?

I went with the €30 win8 download last week Ken and installed on a separate partition with your tweaks and another improvement in sound with JPlay.
Struggling a bit with DSF files on fullscale hibernate but I expect a more powerfull pc will cure that, sound is excellent without hibernate though!

Really looking forward to V5 coming soon!

I do not believe you will hear a difference Fran as I think 4.3a was released to address some hibernate issues.
