had a go on the svhost tweak: randomly disabled things i think is uesless

DHCP (The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a computer networking protocol used by hosts (DHCP clients) to retrieve IP address assignments and other configuration information.DHCP uses a client-server architecture. The client sends a broadcast request for configuration information. The DHCP server receives the request and responds with configuration information from its configuration database. Translation..You will need this one for internet connection)
eventlog (Enables event log messages issued by Windows-based programs and components to be viewed in Event Viewer)
AudioSrv (The sound)
BthHFSrv (Bluetooth Handsfree Headset Service)
LmHosts (The LMHOSTS (LAN Manager Hosts) file is used to enable domain name resolution under Windows when other methods, e.g. WINS, fail. It is used in conjunction with workgroups and domains)
wscsvc (Windows Security Center Service)
homegroupprovider (Performs networking tasks associated with configuration and maintenance of homegroups. If this service is stopped or disabled, your computer will be unable to detect other homegroups and your homegroup might not work properly)

I only kept DHCP and AudioSrv
I think some of the things you're listing may be Win8-specific, as a result - best to try and delete then reboot and re-add them if you notice a problem or SQ decrease.
Thanks for the "FontCache" tip - I did not spend too much time evaluating SQ with this tweak, only noted it had improved when I had completed the whole tweak. Very possible that I had gotten rid of things that would harm SQ. I will try it!
Also, of course, I think a blanket statement about SQ with particular setups (different DACs, cables, OSes, etc.) is potentially problematic - what sounds worse in some setups may sound better in others, and vice versa, etc. - just more things to play with though, I suppose. Have come across many tweaks that, like in your experience, have made my particular SQ worse (an example: Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change Adapter Settings -> right click "Properties" -> Configure -> Advanced - it was recommended to me to disabled "Green Ethernet" and to set "Speed and Duplex" to "1.0 Gbps Full Duplex" by another audiophile - this decreased SQ siginificantly for me - muddied, veiled sound, helped by reversing settings)

Sorry, just realized you mean the actual key not the string value - no, I did not edit the contents of the key, just the string value. Again, it is best to refer to the graphixanstuff thread than my own explanation, however.

No, because some services are not able to be disabled through the registry or services.msc, the ones hosted in svchost being the only ones I know about, but there may be others. You can look at the screenshots by the graphixanstuff post author at the bottom of his post for evidence of this (he has a separate thread on graphixanstuff where he disables services/drivers in the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services area - he had already done this when he posted the svchost tweak, as had I - all the possible services to be disabled had already been disabled and the svchost tweak STILL provides a lower I/O/cpu usage and memory usage - here's the thread where he disables services/drivers in registry - very long!:

Anyway, you're better at listening to SQ of tweaks than I am, interested to see what you find with this one! Very painstaking/arduous tweak to test, though, almost as bad as IRQ tweak - the IRQ tweak, by the way, I disagree with you about. Setting my CMOS/Real Time Clock to 2, my DAC's USB controller to 1, and the SATA controller for my HDD's to 3 and setting almost everything else to the high 90's (93 to 99) gives me increased not decreased SQ, but again, just in my system.

i will test this svchost thing. will take a long time!
past experience tells me disabling every possible service doesn't help SQ. it is about disabling just the right amount. this is one of the most difficult tweak for audiophile.
i did make a stripped-down win7 ISO, think it was less than 1GB or 2GB installation, it doesn't sound anything close to SQ level of win7 XA, which only disables few services. since you like win7, you have to try it. best made audiophile version of win7. better than my 2012 or R2 by 10 to 15%. my goal is to beat it.

I think I tried downloading Win7 XA before, but download kept failing. Where do I find this OS?

Yes, on my list to-do is to try XA's win7! Very interesting project, only one of its kind I've heard of. Again, reminds me of cMP at Computer Audio Asylum with Windows XP - used to have builds of Windows XP for audio. If you have not checked it out yet, you should follow some of the tweaks of cMP, they are good, especially those in autoruns - here's the link:
