Listening Project Calendar
Re: Listening Project Calendar
Sorry did I miss it? Is there a recommendation for Don Quixote?
Re: Listening Project Calendar
I don't have a copy of it either so I am going to buy a copy of the Fritz Reiner performance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), to my ear Reiner can do no wrong, his recordings with the CSO are superb.Claus wrote:Sorry did I miss it? Is there a recommendation for Don Quixote?
Any other suggestions? Darren?
Claus, BBC Radio 3's Building a Library on Saturday morning @ 9.30 will explore Nielsen's Fourth Symphony and make a recommendation: a programme not to be missed. Blomstedt/SFSO anyone?

I think it is available reasonably cheaply and, as Sean suggests, the participants are first rate :-)

I am getting in training for 'The Rite of Spring' and have just bought ..
[Probably should not have told you .. you will now where I am getting all my information from :) ].
But .. seriously ..
I am only intersted in understanding how the music works becuse I really love listenning to it .. otherwise it would just be an academic exercise.
I already have a book by Peter Hill about Messiaen so I have great hopes for this one.

Le Sacre is not to everyone's taste, I LOVE it. After all the Saced Music that is spoken of on this forum it will be good to have a month devoted to a pagan ritual.james wrote:I am getting in training for 'The Rite of Spring' and have just bought ..
