I'm happy to bring my "zuma" along if its any good to anyone to try out for streaming?

Nigel: that PSU from Maplin with the 2 outputs won't do as its up to 2.5A and the zuma draws more....

Fran
was actually thinking about along with my maplin to power the usb3 and the cpu/or motherboard,
actually just bought the other one should be fit do do the lot (bit overkill i know)

where to inject the usb3 + 5v is annoying me as i have not found a easy solution yet. think im going to try to get it onto the female socket on the board. its been a pain in the ass.
dont think im doing it in vain as i think there's another lift in it for me with my weird adapter, lucky my usb3 card is only 8 euro delivered as i may break it

Been swapping back and forth between Tony's Maplin 12v supply and the Teddy Pardo 12v supply this evening and can not find any difference between the two so it looks like prudence has come up trumps on the power supply front.

Once Tony gets his Zuma together we should all bring along our boxes as Fran suggested and go for a full on streaming session with enough ears to see if there is an improvement with 2 dedicated PC's.

you should have hit the classified section before you posted that,

think ive got another lift in SQ

don't laugh at my soldering capabilities

if anyone has a better idea how to do this let me know, its too messy to be practical
its a testing exercise but i don't know ill do it in the final build (if there will ever be one)

I ordered up a cable to run from the motherboard header to some sockets. This will open up a new pair of usb3 slots.

I couldn't use the ones nigel posted earlier, wouldn't fit in the case(case height). Nigel, what supply are you using for the +5V?

Not an option Nige, my conscience would bother me too much!

What's the second USB connection in the pictures, I know one of the sticks is the Win8 on a stick but what's the other one?
I expect there are members looking in here now thinking we have gone off the deep end with all the pics of wires and bits with cryptic notes attached.....maybe we have but it is all worth it!

Pearse, rest assured I think you're all mad anyway. The thread hasn't changed that!

was only joking about the classified section, i couldn't do it either
both are full usb3 connections, the second one is music storage for single pc mode
we are well off the deep end, but you cant get this sort of audio pc quality without spending a lot of money,
once we have figured out the crucial parts and modifications we can get working on lower cost versions without loosing any sound quality

This one:

I chose it as it was the shortest one I could find. I may also be able to open one of the cables and isolate the +5v if I build a new supply for it.

looks to be as good as it gets was looking at them before
i was thinking if that header plug would come apart without damage it would good place to sever the +5 from the motherboard and add in the external +5
