Thanks Sean. He was very special, both as a musician and as a human being. Coltrane and Mingus in particular were greatly moved by his premature death.

On the TT. This was recorded on a cold November winter's night in 1969. It's not his Seventh Birthday concert as that was held at the White house and was hosted by one of his great admirers, 'Trick Dicky' Nixon, it's great music:

Once heard a quote from Ellington regarding Tricky:
"When introduced to Nixon, I kissed him on the cheeks - all four of them"

I bought this LP in 1973, it's a wee bit crackley in parts but for once the title is a correct description, it is beyond compare.
