I've been enjoying that too! Having some of the Diabelli variations by other composers is a nice idea.Jose Echenique wrote:

2 of the finest Strauss waltzes recordings ever don´t feature the Vienna Philharmonic: A DG Ferenc Fricsay/RIAS Symphonieorchester recording, and this glorious RCA disc with Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony. At the time of this recording, circa 1960, many members of the Chicago Symphony were War emigres from Hungary, Austria and Germany, and they certainly knew how to waltz.
