If you do what I do,
disable HPET in bios
and disable "System timer" in "Device Manager".

That's it. all you need is one timer the "System CMOS/real time clock".

i havent tried it on my audio pc
but its helped for my win 8 desktop and headphones

Any more wisdom JC?
people seem interested in tweaks. i shall post 1 tweak a day. try not ask me why and to explain. just tell me if something is wrong/incorrect.

the following tweak i learnt from reading "Performance Tuning Guidelines for Windows Server 2012" from msdn. i just export my registry below:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem]
"SymlinkLocalToRemoteEvaluation"=dword:00000001
"SymlinkLocalToLocalEvaluation"=dword:00000001
"NtfsDisableCompression"=dword:00000000
"DisableDeleteNotification"=dword:00000000
"FilterSupportedFeaturesMode"=dword:00000000
"NtfsDisableEncryption"=dword:00000000
"SymlinkRemoteToRemoteEvaluation"=dword:00000000
"NtfsAllowExtendedCharacter8dot3Rename"=dword:00000000
"NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation"=dword:00000001
"NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate"=dword:00000001
"SymlinkRemoteToLocalEvaluation"=dword:00000000
"NtfsQuotaNotifyRate"=dword:00000e10
"NtfsMftZoneReservation"=dword:00000000
"Win31FileSystem"=dword:00000000
"Win95TruncatedExtensions"=dword:00000001
"NtfsEncryptPagingFile"=dword:00000000
"NtfsDisableVolsnapHints"=dword:00000000
"NtfsMemoryUsage"=dword:00000000
"NtfsBugcheckOnCorrupt"=dword:00000000
"ScrubMode"=dword:00000001
"UdfsSoftwareDefectManagement"=dword:00000000
"UdfsCloseSessionOnEject"=dword:00000003
"DontVerifyRandomDrivers"=dword:00000001
"MaximumTunnelEntries"=dword:00000000

i might have modified more values than those in bold. dont remember.
Must be worth starting a new thread JC "JC'S Audio pc tweaks"

will get buried here

Are these for r1 only or will it be ok for r2?

Think ill do a new os install for jc tweaks for comparison

2.66s>2.67s because 2.66 is more enjoyable.

+2 I like V2 and V3 2.66 so much sure 2.67 has to be worse.

Tweaks I suggest start a new thread. Interested alright in that as well but better if collated in one folder rather than searching through this thread.

the file paste.exe referenced by MQn.bat behaved differently in Win 7 and Win 8.
In Win 8, a "carriage return line feed" is added to the end of the filename inside param.txt.
In Win 7, there is no "carriage return line feed" at the end of the filename. The results in a blank Files.txt

Alex and Nige,
You guys run the 2012 R2, right? Any of you use the CF with PPA adapter?
Any tips with installing the R2?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

yup, the search goes on. 2.67 gets 1 cache line instead of 2, therefore has twice as many loops - 128 instead of 64, is that what affects the sound ?
