Now, that's only gas altogether. I heard some Stacey Kent on the radio recently and liked it, but didn't know where to start in terms of purchases. Then she popped up again somewhere else last Friday and I once again thought I must find out more.

Would you recommend this one?

I was driving along thinking to myself: 'am I really listening to this stuff' because there certainly was a time when I would have dismissed it as a bit anadine/loungey etc. But you know what, once I got that out of the way and remembered a sense of humour about how my taste is changing, I was really enjoying it. By the time I got home I was on the third round.
I find her voice/style fresh and uncontrived or forced.
The second track is a cover of 'Landslide' which has been covered a bit often; but she delivers a restrained and classy take on it which convinced me.
Her following (?) album is entirely in french, as are some of the tracks here, and being a francophile as well, I will be putting that one in the basket soon too.
I guess I am reccommending............I definitely like it!

Haha, I know that thought process myself. I heard some of the French album on that same radio show (which I think was a Jazz Alley special of some sort, but I can't find the exact details on the Lyric website) and it sounded very pleasant indeed. Nothing to scare the horses, but sometimes it's nice to have the eardrums caressed!

Exactly that: ear caressing. Amusingly, Laura Nyro's 'Tendaberry' arrived in the same package...now there is a contrast!!

Got this in the post today. Played a bit of it today and tonight. First track' I want to be happy' + next two are really good.

Tony, Stan Getz was great, I was fortunate enough to see him when he played in Dublin, you would be hard pressed to find a poor recording by him. What a beautiful warm tone he had, his sound was unique and he had many imitators too.

Lucky you Sean I assume he is dead now! Agree fully beautiful warm tone describes exactly the sound. Really sublime. First album I got was the one with girl from ipanema and to me was fairly bland(very good but the album designed to sell a truck load) but this one really shows what he was about I am assuming without doing research that this was earlier in the career.
