Listened to this record this evening....

However, wonderful as it is, I am not posting it in relation to the Piano Concerto; rather the Choral Fantasia which is, regrettably, a somewhat neglected work which I think is a wonderful piece of music.

I have that cycle on CD Fergus, and it's a very underrated set in my view

I also have the cycle on CD Darren and I agree with you; there are some great performances in it. I also have Lill playing the 32 Piano Sonatas on CD which is also quite a good set. I like his understated and non flamboyant style yet he still displays emotion.

Arvo Part is never very far away from any playlist of mine. Anyone who would be interested in exploring this man's music would do well to start here with this very inexpensive disc....considering the wonderful music that it contains it is a real bargain!

really enjoying the intimate setting of this version...

the voices really do soar in the venue, orchestration is a little recessed in comparison, but that's only really evident in the infrequent unsung parts....

Many thanks to Jose Echenique for the Christmas recommendations.

Was doing well locating and building a list on Spotify until I reached the renaissance selection on the CPO label, oh well.

But now have about 16 hours of listening ahead and will add my favourites to the Santa list.

Mark.

Britten: A Boy Was Born
Honegger: Une cantate de Noel

and to be fair, I've heard far worse (this week, in fact!)...
