Hm, trying mqn again after a year and a half. Can't seem to get it working with the new files (yes mqn.bat has right directory). Mqnloader.exe keeps crashing, no sound. I see mqncontrol and mqnplay active in task manager though.

did you follow these steps ?

http://randytsuch-audio.blogspot.co.uk/ ... setup.html

probably your device name is not set up correctly in mqnparam.txt file.

have you got the correct files for your os ? What is the cpu % for play ?

loader is stopped after it's finished loading the file, so that's working ok.

to get the device name in the param file copy the mqndevinfo.exe file to the directory where the mqn files are eg mqnplayer and then :

start a cmd prompt

cd \

cd musicplayer

mqndevinfo > mqnparam.txt

ctrl c or close the cmd prompt

mqnparam.txt will then have the correct device name

at long last have arrived at a final version - 209/81/62

working on a hirez version now.

Have uploaded a 209 mod version that kills the detail, was wondering if someone with a regen can try it and see if the detail is recovered by the regen. Used CFF Explorer to align it to 4k, remove the debug section and bind the import table - these all seem to reduce the detail.

I followed randy's steps. mqnparam looks identical.

w2012 r2 270,
control haswell 79,

I've tried other recent versions as well. I get 'mqnloader.exe has stopped working'.

what usb device do you have ?

have uploaded a win 8.1 version of the loader v63, don't know if makes a difference.

are you sure you have the correct loader file ? would expect control to fail as well as it uses the same code.

After a year of not listening and finally getting Haswell, I can say that quite a bit of improvement with the newer mqn.
I never got the chance to compare the newest versions (just the one from two weeks ago), but like I said it's a big step forward.

8.1 version v63 works! BUT command window still disappears immediately. So I can't press 'x' to exit. I have to stop the music using task manager...

I have IFI iDAC2... all other audio options have been disabled.
