But when I boot OS from SSD I get distorted sound wondering why
Gordon can you chime in with idea why is that happening?
Thanks
I will try v14.10 see if that fix it
Aleg are you using OS on ram or normal drive boot?
Normal boot drive.

Most likely a speed and timing issue.
Could try V14 10

(tested under ws2012r2 gui and core, and i7 haswell )
mqncounter 7, 8, 14 all exhibit modulation distortion and stutter.
with 15.6ms timer resolution, it was heavy distortion with vinyl like half speed effect.
with 0.5 ms timer resolution, the effect was much lighter, but still audible.

I still run the audioPC with 2 ms timerresolution and the same value for my DDC usb buffer and don't experience any stutter.
Also have play and counter on real time priority and each its own exclusive core.

Thanks, would try separate core with real time priority.
Ever since MQnplay changed from using core 1 to all cores, I found that assigning it back to core 1 and other processes to non core 1 produced tighter highs.

tried separate core for play123, control32, counter14 with real time priority, no luck.
with counter 14 10, it was much much better at 1 ms timer resolution. SQ was very attractive. With 15.6 ms, stutter was still audible.

Are all the crackling problems just for those with win 2012 core, has something been removed that's preventing load balancing ?
Aleg, interesting discussions about regen measurements on various forums, but no one researching the effect of the player, you said the player made a bigger difference than the regen.
Can anyone confirm if the latest versions of mqn are any better than the wasapi versions ? Hope they are.

SQ, listened to mqnplay v117 and play v123 with counter 14 10.
I clearly prefer v123. More clarity, beautiful.
I installed win 2012 R2 with GUI, and with AO in both GUI (no optimization) and core mode (optimized) there was distortion with v123 and counter v14 and v8.
Cheers

tried v123, counter 14 and counter14 10 with W10 enterprise, 16,44 files, no optimization, crackling still exist, same as with ws2012.
