Beautiful playing by the near perfect Perhaia.

I conclude my Zinman led Beethoven symphonic cycle with a powerful No. 9....

This cycle is available quite cheaply individually or as a set and comes highly recommended as a powerful and full blooded version of the Beethoven symphonies. In terms of performance I consider it to be up there with the best of them....macho Beethoven, hard and fast!

Martucci´s Notturno is what Muti gave us as an encore last wednesday.

I've been trying with the Harnoncourt Brahms 3 but put it down again.
With winter approaching there'll be time to have another go.

quite agreed Fergus, I do have a soft spot for that recording, in the way that I do, his Missa Solemnis.

Have you tried the MacKerras set yet? Well worth owning.

For a more traditional version, I plumped for the HvK 70's and the Jochum, both of which I'm happy with.

The music is wonderfully well played with sparkle and style and also with vitality and feeling where appropriate. It is a great recording as well: the authentic instruments sound very full.
