That's the one. As for pic. Here's the mess o' wires. Feeding aikido from soekris with belden 8412 wire, which I've become a big fan of. The previous pre (a pga2310 is still next to the soekris but disconnected). The TPA3118 amp is in the cigar box. Note the lifepo powering the wm8804 module in the b/g. 4 lifepo's are feeding the amp 13+V off camera to left.
same old story
the project out grows its box :)
how did the batteries work out on the amp?
is the tube output on batteries too?
theres a nice few components in the signal path of the tube output, how does it affect the sound?
got these

seem good value

Lifepo's are working stellar with the amp. The TPA amps only consume about 20-80mA so don't have to worry about constantly charging. In fact I decided to forego the permanent charger setup and got a battery charger instead, just makes things tidier with the amp. As for the aikido it's been collecting dust for several years so don't remember how sensitive it is to parts swapping. I've got obsolete Ampohm Aluminum PIO caps at the output and a combination of PRP and other fancy resistors in some key places. The aikido is powered by a meanwell smps recommended by the designer. Down the road I'll think about replacing it, but this setup uses the 12bh7s and so requires 48v. Can't really swing that with batteries...

lol.... :) my lifepo4 amp is 66v 20 cells
hmmn was there not 12 or 24v possibilities?
in fact you could power everything with the same power supply and lifepo4 battery pack ;)
i tend to be suspicious of smps even to the point of what it dumps on to the mains have you tried alternatives?

I'd need different tubes and resistors for 24v and tubes aren't getting cheaper. I'll sort it all out eventually.

Hi,
A lost of work and experiment... i wish the result has been there !
I am building a lifepo4 power supplied DAC and maybe you can advice me.
I have to feed some relays for battery connect and output soft start.
I don't want to add one more battery for relay management but i am scared to ruin all battery benefit with a classic PS feeding for those relays, especially with HT noise through the relays selfs (at this time i have parallel switches).
Do you think there is a real risk or it is paranoia ?
Around the same subject : if i use an arduino for I2C control, what is the best way to isolate the I2C from DAC ? is there a risk for the optocouplers to be more noisy than the I2C themselves ?
Everything in my digital chain will be isolated from AC.
thank you
Bernard

relays aint as bad you would think
and you need someway of switching so needs must
not sure bout i2c from arduino, but if you power it from battery seperate cell too it will absorb some of its noise
maybe isolator chips would be fine
not that sure

Glad I am not the only one wondering what it is.
I had a moment of madness earlier in the week also but I think it should be easier to identify. Before you ask Nigel my hands are shaking from excess coffee drinking hence I haven't finished soldering the flip flop yet!
