No clicks anymore on different set of tracks.
Prefer 4.07 to 4.10

4.11 avx2 has small change to 4.07

4.10 had more code, guess that affected the sq.

these versions are very good at portraying a driving rhythm which is something I've struggled to get with digital.

I am wondering if anyone is using these newest versions with mqnload. Could that be the reason why I experience issues?

4.12 might be better, think it's the control interfering with some other program

Interesting thread in Computer Audiophile: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-s ... ize-22985/.
Can anyone explain why files with tags sound different from files without?

this is what I posted

"in my mucking about with loading wav files the sound can be different depending on the chunk size eg 4096 vs 8192 ie load the data in 4096 byte chunks, this equates to a standard page. A player reads the wav file and steps through it until it get's to the data section, so if the tags/metadata shift the start of data section then that could affect the sq because reading through a page boundary will produce noise.

also tags/notags might produce a different code path which could be enough to affect the sq.

what I do is read to the data start and then load that into page aligned ram in 4096 chunks and then pass that to an intermediate ram and then to the player ram. All without use of file/cpu or device cache.

haven't checked to see if flac to wav conversions sound the same."

No mqnload, but same problem! Must be the Canadian freeze!
Didn't tried the 4.12 yet.
