I totally agree Pepe; even from a financial point of view there must be a considerable difference in the market between the two or perhaps the Quatuor Mosaïques are going on their well earned reputation at this stage and promoting the music that they particularly like?Jose Echenique wrote: I can´t understand why the incomparable Quatuor Mosaïques left so much Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven unrecorded and are now turning to minor composers.
Alas, I don't have much to spin, I will have to fix that.fergus wrote:Seán wrote:Dicky is getting a lot of play time around here, I see.fergus wrote:Coincedentally I have just listened to this one....again....
He is always worth a spin Seán!
Sean, all of Karajan's 80's output (and some of his earlier work) has recently been released in this 5CD set at a budget price:Seán wrote: Alas, I don't have much to spin, I will have to fix that.
Thanks Jared, I am currently mulling over the Kempe or Reiner sets. I don't have any Kempe recordings and I do like the Dresden orchestra so they are ahead by a whisker.Jared wrote:Sean, all of Karajan's 80's output (and some of his earlier work) has recently been released in this 5CD set at a budget price:Seán wrote: Alas, I don't have much to spin, I will have to fix that.
If you own very little on here, then it would certainly be worth the purchase.
I would personally put von Karajan before Kempe in Strauss. Kempe is excellent but von Karajan has the essence of the music. Either way you will not go wrong Seán....I will be watching this spot!Seán wrote:Thanks Jared, I am currently mulling over the Kempe or Reiner sets.
