But I myself usually do read a thread just once (even the long ones) as many of the basic questions a novice has will be answered along the way and it is not always an easy task to guide a novice through all the steps and basic knowledge needed to make adjustments on his personal setup. And reading it all by himself will give him a lot of insight into the workings and difficulties he can come across.

I never take the easy route or shortcuts myself (privately or in work).

so wasn't trying to be harsh, but taking him along the route I would take myself.

Sorry :-(

Wish that descriibe my approach!! but no point in kidding myself

Got the right string, the previous one I posted was incomplete The one below is taken with use of Aplayer so should be fine in oppose to manual searching through registry.

Any chance that you could do 8.99 or 97 normal using the string below (or even better both of them if not much of a hassle)? Really interested to see what the designated device does and how are new versions.

\\?\tusbaudio_enum#vid_20b1&pid_0002&ks#0000#{6994ad04-93ef-11d0-a3cc-00a0c9223196}\pcm_out_02_00

Sebna how did you get the string from Aplayer?

BTW are you the same Sebna from Audiohobby?

Sebna has found the method to find the right string. Finally!
Download Aplayer http://albumplayer.ru/english.html
go to the EXTRAS->KS and run "ks_x64_config.exe", set the right device and press OK. "APlayer.ini" will show in the folder and there it is THE MYSTICAL STRING :)

so mine is:
\\?\pci#ven_13f6&dev_8788&subsys_835d1043&rev_00#4&30d54f48&0&00f0#{6994ad04-93ef-11d0-a3cc-00a0c9223196}\aa_wave

Now you need to know the right pin as well :-(

That's how I got mine.
It did have the pin no. Are you doing it with the USB converter/DAC turned on?

Thanks to your post I finally found my device (M2Tech Hiface Dac). I hope, Gordon, you can make for me a version as well. I have been reading the forum twice a day and I became very curious to the 'device versions' of MQN.

What is the missing pin? I thought it is incorporated in this string as no one seems to be giving two strings? Could you explain Aleg?

And BTW, ahh the sweet confusion ;), I though that John Dot was the first who wrote about Aplayer and it is ability to provide the string but it was of course jrling. I only used his direction as to software and found a way to get a string. I wonder if there he has a different method or is the same thing he did as I am doing.

EDIT: OK so jrling is doing same thing as me.

How was your pin presented to you in the ini file? Is something extra to string?

Cheers

Hope not as the reports are so universally good.

thought devinfo wasn't working

uploaded ji and 3.84 normal
Have now tried that combo and very good it is. Many thanks.

As most versions recently have only been AVX2, I don't know how much of an improvement the device specific element contributes, compared to general advance since 8.71/3.82 Normal.

I agree with Aleg that the bass is superb. Really taut. And cymbals are not quite 'right' and tending a little harsh.

Not extra. It was all one string as shown in my post.
