^^ I know... but it was going very cheap... it had been on my list for a long time, and it relieved the tedium of a day of meetings...
Excuses, excuses!!!!

If you like that kind of thing, you'd probably also like:

It may be out of print now, but if you see it at a good price I'd strongly recommend it.

I've meant to get that for years, damn the procrastination! Cheapest seller on Amazon UK is currently £34.70!

I heard some of a bassoon concerto (with the wonderful Sergio Azzolini as soloist, familiar from Naïve's Vivaldi bassoon concerto discs) of this CD

Image

of concertos by Reichenauer and thought I must have it. My searches also threw up this,

Image

concertos by Jiránek, in the same series, also with Azzolini as bassoon soloist, and I got it as well. Both composers worked for Count Morzin, a patron of Vivaldi, and show Vivaldi's influence, but they have their own individuality and their works are delightful, and Azzolini is absolutely wonderful in the works he plays in. Very well worth investigating.

While on the Czech baroque composers, I also got a new CD of choral works by Zelenka

Image

the Missa Sancti Josephi, and the Litaniae Xaverianae. The Mass here receives its first recording, and uses the largest forces Zelenka ever used in a Mass. Excellently performed by Ensemble Inégal under Adam Viktora, with soloists including Hana Blažíková. A wonderful large baroque choral work, not like Bach or Telemann: you need to hear it!

I love Zelenka's music but I haven't yet bought any of his religious offerings, enjoy.
