At some point, I started using a lifepo3 battery to power iso 3.3V and the amanero I was using at the time.
It was clearly better with a lifepo3 then with a cheap PS.

Randy
Hi Randy, yes I mean just at J3. When you say 'and the amanero', you mean you had two 3.3v supplies or fed both with one? I don't want to mess with the F-1, but I have spare salas shunt boards I can power J3 with if it's worth the effort...
the largest benefit would be to power the f-1 id prioritise doing that with your shunts
No schematic is available for the f1. Wary of messing with it.

Would it be worth it to convert my spdif/coaxial input to the soekris to I2S via a WM8804 or better to stick with spdif? (no longer using usb2spdif inputs)

dont know
i do remember a few guys having preference for i2s sources over spdif
if its cheap to implement might be an interesting experiment

whats your spdif source?

Oppo 103 with linear ps and upgraded clocks. I stream via the ethernet.

by any chance does the oppo derive its spdif from i2s?

The Oppo does have I2S available on the board, feeding the ESS DAC chip. As I recall, it is not easily accessable, but can be tapped. There is a good thread on modifying the unit in DIYAudio:

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital- ... -mods.html

Tapping the I2S lines is discussed in the thread. If I were picking it up from this CDP, unless you plan to mount the DAC inside of the case and keep the lines REALLY short, consider a pair of Twisted Pear Audio Teleporters to move the signal out to the DAC.

(Weird, I thought I responded, but maybe I dreamt it)

Correct per gstew. And no way I'm doing that mod to the Oppo, replacing the clocks was dicey enough!

Nige, do you think it would be worth it to add a flipflop to the wm8004?
