....stunning musicianship!
I am very tempted to get this set and am wondering if this is the 1955 recording:

Now, THIS is piano playing beyond compare. Abbado says goodbye with his favorite composer.

Europa Galante´s new recording appears in Glossa, did they went sour with Virgin?
I´ll ask Biondi next week when he plays here.
Chiara was a young orphan girl that studied with Vivaldi at the Ospedale de la Pietá. She was very talented and soon became a sensation in Venice. In this recording we can hear some concertos composed for her by Vivaldi and others. It also comes with a well made 32 minutes dvd on Chiara.

I hope that it is not inappropriate for me to say that I always thought that they made a gorgeous couple.

as will Lance G. Hil on his programme on Saturday night with Abbado/LSO and Serkin performing Mozart's 9th Piano Concerto, I am looking forward to it.

I am a big fan of Horenstein in Mahler's music and I really like Nielsen 5 so when I saw the above for sale on eBay recently I had to try it; I was not disappointed!
