John, I applied -6dB volume control on Jplay and +6dB on the preamp but I couldn't detect any difference on 16bit material but on 24bit there was a difference with a less fulsome performance. I just listened to one track for each bit size so it' a short test result.

doing an internet search for sansui amp(cheapo for my son to start off) and came across this review which didnt mention the sansui much but covered my favourite artist in some detail .Anyway enough waffle you need to read it to the end and you see what his current system is.

:)
His concluding remarks when he reviewed the MK2 on his site " I thought about tagging this battery-powered Hiface as "highly recommended" but it's better than that - instead, I have to go with "essential". Got computer? Get this." http://digitalaudioreview.net.au/index. ... hiface-mk2

Paul Candy from 6moons is soon to publish a review of the MK3. He's already given me his preliminary impressions :)

My sparkly new jkdac32 was personally delivered to me yesterday!!

I have to say it sounds great so far (I knew that anyway though) and all sorts of audiophile geekery lies ahead, beach vs river engine, young vs hiface driver etc!

An unexpected bonus that I forgot about was being able to play the wolfgangs vault concerts through the main system - so I had an enjoyable listen to their #1 concert download of jimi/band of gypsies live at the fillmore east 1970 - a blistering set!

Experimentation to go through the few settings above has yet to follow, but loving this so far!!

Hi Fran, congratulations! There's a new version of Jplay out today which integrates with Jriver giving Jplay quality with Jriver convenience(alleged). I'm just listening to it now.

Enjoy.

congrats Fran, I am aiming for one of them this year. Curious why you picked the 32 over the jkdac? Did you audition both?
