yes, in my opinion 8.16 normal is the better of the recent normal bunch and, you're correct, 8.12 is my second choice, 8.15 is very good as well, 8.14 stays behind.
I need more listening with different material, I changed my preamplifier a couple of days ago because Aikido needs some maintenance, so I built a B1 that has a quite different sound of that I'm not completely accustomed to yet, but I think 8.16 is the winner at this moment.

just installed win 10 preview and can confirm am running without amanero drivers, so usb 2.00 is native. Sounds pretty good, different, think it's better, though that may change.
win 10 preview makes me realise how whacky win 8 was on a desktop.

more a statement than an equation, xx means 8.09 is better than 8.00, 8.11, 8.22 etc. I didn't get where I am today by not being a pedant.

uploaded 8.16 avx2 compiled on win 10, sounds better, on win 10 anyway.

amanero seem strident compared to native, mmcss service seems to have disappeared in win 10, preview at least.
maybe the driver partially accounts for why people report different sq.
tried windows media player in win 10, not good.
