Re: What are you listening to?
To be honest Dave I was unimpressed....the music did not hold one's attention as there was no sparkle or life in it. It was composed towards the end of his life when things went a bit off the rails for him and this is possibly reflected in the mood and content. The performances were very good though.DaveF wrote:What do you make of Boccerhini Fergus?

Re: What are you listening to?
He does take a bit of getting used to alright. I find I'd have to be in the right mood for some of his works. I reckon you should seek out the Savall recording. If that doesnt do it for you, I doubt anything else will.fergus wrote:To be honest Dave I was unimpressed....the music did not hold one's attention as there was no sparkle or life in it. I dont have that one Seán so I might well pick it up at some stage. He did compose a lot of works for Cello I believe.Seán wrote:I realy like the Cello Concertos on Brilliant Classics:DaveF wrote:He does take a bit of getting used to alright. Re: What are you listening to?
Boccherini was apparently an outstanding cellist and his cello concertos were written in far happier times so the music is bound to reflect that I suppose. I do enjoy Boccherini from time to time; it is just that the works on that purchase of mine were quite different in tone and content....perhaps another listen at a later time now that I know what to expect....DaveF wrote:He does take a bit of getting used to alright.
